Is uv ink oily or watery?
UV ink is neither oily nor water-based. Generally speaking, oily and water-based inks
are based on the dispersion medium of inks. In short, oily inks disperse pigments in oil,
such as mineral oil, vegetable oil, etc. The inks fix the pigments on the printing medium
through the penetration and evaporation of oil; Water-based ink is based on water as
the dispersion medium. The ink fixes the pigment on the printing medium through
the penetration and evaporation of water.
Both oily and water-based inks need to be dried or dried naturally to reach the surface
dry state. In appearance, uv ink is similar to oily ink, but its use and curing process are
completely different. uv ink uses different principles, that is, using light-cured resin as
dispersant and uv light irradiation to cause chemical reaction to solidify the resin into a film.
uv ink is attached to the printing medium by the adhesion of resin, and can form
a good film even if it is not permeable, so it can be printed on metal, glass, ceramics and
other materials. uv ink has a short curing time and does not volatilize solvent substances,
so it is also environmentally friendly and harmless to the body. However, the decomposition
and recovery of photosetting resin is also a big problem, so uv ink is not 100%
environmentally friendly ink.

Due to the different dispersion media of oily and water-based inks, the dilution and cleaning
media are also different. Generally, oil can only be diluted and cleaned with solvent,
while water-based ink can be diluted and cleaned with water. We know that the decomposition
and recovery of oil is more troublesome, so water-based ink is more environmentally friendly.
